The good life. This is it!

My mom wants me to update the blog more often. I am a sucker for pleasing other people.....so...

Since my last post, it has been a wonderful life. :) I hung out with Nicole on Saturday - we spent lots of time browsing home goods stores trying to find fun things with which to decorate her new house. No purchases were made at the time, but we had fun sitting on couches and commenting on the various decor themes that are available.

On Sunday, my pastor gave an amazing sermon - I am so thankful for my church. As a church, I feel like we are very forward-thinking and city-focused. We support a local pregnancy clinic through financial donations, but also by hosting a baby shower for the expectant mothers. We are participating in a Walk Agains Human Trafficking in a week or so, and our youth groups are going on winter retreats.

Stay with me here...the sermon on Sunday was called "Facebook App: Being Social vs. Loving Our Neighbor." My pastor answered the question,"Who is my neighbor?"by saying "Everyone you run across!" Then he talked about some key stories in Scripture - John 4, with the woman at the well, and Luke 10, The Good Samaritan. My pastor reminded me of some key components to what it looks like to love others: ask God to give you a heart for needs around you, encourage others, be the friend you are looking for, serve others to gain new perspectives, show spontaneous kindess, and be willing to spend whatever it takes (money, time...) WHEW! I could probably work on ALL of these aspects! Lastly - this video was shown right before the message. I thought it was pretty powerful.

The rest of Sunday and Monday were also fantastic. I got to hang out with my old college roommates. Nothing really compares to hanging with friends who know you so well, right? These girls are amazing, and so special to me. It was a really fun few days together. (in no particular order)....we went for a hike, ate enchiladas, had a sleepover, watched The Bachelor, ate Thai food with Jeremy and Nate, talked and laughed hysterically at Lisa's Match.com stories, and just had a good ol' time looking at old photos on Meg's computer. We have grown so much since our Calvin College days...!

I have today "off" because it is finals week at school, and I was not assigned to proctor any exams today. Woo hoo! Instead I get to grade all my exams, plus final projects for the quarter (Spanish one videos = hilarious), and all of this with a mug of hot coffee and in my pjs! :) Life. Is. Good.

I want to watch the spanish one videos!! Are they like the "one semester of spanish spanish love song" on youtube? That's my fave. If you haven't watched it, you need to.
