Monday morning at 9am I get a knock on the door, and it's Aaron. He hands me a card, we hug, and he says, "I hope you haven't eaten breakfast yet, I want to take you to Denny's." Little did he know I had been thinking of how delicious a create your own grand slam would taste to me. And that's why I love this guy. :)
We get to the restaurant, order our grand slams and coffee, and he says, "How long are you going to make me wait? Will you please open the card??" Inside it said lots of nice things, and then this phrase: "...so I wanted to take you to the happiest place on earth." DISNEYLAND! Woo hoo! Not only were we going to spend the entire day there on Monday, but he had gotten us both year-long passes!! I was thrilled....and if you were wondering, YES, that is what I thought the surprise was... I am good. :)
I have not actually been to Disneyland since I was like....mmmm...12 or something, so this was a real treat for me to spend the whole day there with Aaron - a very experienced Disneyland goer. My favorite rides were Soaring through California (you sit in what feel like airplane seats, feet dangling over a big screen and 'soar' through all the cool parts of Cali), Hotel Tower of Terror (scary storyline, fun ride), Pirates of the Carribean (flashbacks from riding in there when I was little...scary!), Small World (super pretty decorations for Christmas, fun boat ride), and the Haunted Mansion (which was changed into The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the Johnny Depp statues looked JUST like him!)
Aaron and I also played a fun game while at Disneyland. It started out as a joke, but like a good Kleinsasser, I quickly turned it into a game with a prize for the winner (me)! We decided to count how many tacky Christmas sweaters we saw people wearing thoughout the day. I guessed we'd see 18, Aaron guessed we'd see 25. The rules were that we both had to see it, it had to be a sweater/sweatshirt, and had to be seriously tacky. In reality, there were way more than 25, but we both saw 21 - which means, I won! Whatever I want at Starbucks is the prize - no big suprise there...At the end of the day, we were both exhausted, but had so much fun together. And the best part is that we can go back any time we want for free! :) Woo hoo! Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of us at Disney, because I didn't want to carry it around all day long...but have no fear - there will be more pics soon as the Christmas festivities continue!
In other news, I am loving Christmas break. Currently I am wearing my sweats drinking a cup of coffee, munching on some chocolates, and watching Ellen. Also, it is super nice outside, so it really doesn't feel a lot like Christmas. I recently had the realization that this will be by first year spending Christmas Eve and Christmas day away from my family. EVER. Thankfully Aaron's family has graciously invited me to all their fun family activities, thus the upcoming pictures.
Michigan countdown = 3 days!
