Question: does anyone even read this?

I was semi stressing out today, thinking I was really disappointing my faithful blog readers by not blogging sooner about my Nica trip. Then I realized, wait...does anyone really check my blog every day to see that I post? Probably not. Ha! It's funny when you realize you're not quite as important as you thought you were. :)

Anyhoo...I did go to Nicaragua last week to visit J&L for Thanksgiving. It was 5 days packed with fun and much adventure. I'll post pictures later...I don't have them on my computer yet....

Wednesday's excitement included sitting on the plane next to a guy named Eduardo Montealegre who could possibly be Nica's future President. Cool.

Thursday included a super fun beach trip with some NCA students, teachers, and other fun people from the community. It was super hot and humid...I wore 45SPF and still got color! It was fun sipping smoothies and chatting with the NCA students who are SUPER cool. Also, I lost a game of thumbs and had to drink a mixture of hot sauce, salt, pepper, vinegar, and oil. Happy Thankgiving. :)

Friday J, L, some other friends and I drove to a sweet house on a lake that happens to be in the middle of a crater. Um....cool. We played some fun games of Chinese Checkers and thumbs...of which I lost AGAIN and had to drink nasty Rojito (which is cough syrup flavored soda from Nica) AND swim in the lake under the stars. Also, my friend Joni killed a tarantula (is that how you spell it?) She is a super star. I stood back and freaked out. Good times. I also finished reading Angry Conversations with God by Susan Isaaacs. Funny lady.

Saturday I slept in and it was glorious. Had a yummy breakfast delivered to our door, drank Starbucks coffee (thanks, Aaron!), and chilled outside all afternoon. We played king of the raft out on the lake, and Joel won most of the time...as to be expected. That afternoon, J, L, and I perused the touristy market in a town that starts with an M....I got a magnet (in good Kleinsasser fashion) and some earrings made of coconut. COOL. That evening I met some of J&L's neighbors...some kids who ran out of their house just at the sound of J honking the truck horn. They showed us their neon green iguana their dad had caught that day...it was going in their soup later that night. :) We enjoyed eating chocobananos at another neighbor's house, and were entertained by the little kids saying random phrases they know in English. It was a riot. that night J, L, & I had dinner with their pastor and his wife. I think this was the highlight of the trip for me. We sat around the table and spoke Spanish like we were all old friends, (or at least that's how I felt) and ate a bunch of yummy food from our "meat saucer" as Joel Dozeman calls it. Delicious. To end the evening, J&L made their famous Christmas shakes and we ate lots of oreos.

Sunday morning at 4:30 we shared our last breakfast together and headed to the airport. I probably got their way earlier than I needed to, but it's better to be too early than too late...no one likes anxiously waiting in the security line, running to the gate, and riding sweaty on a cramped plane. I didn't get to sit by any up and coming Presidents, but I did get some quality time listening to sermons and enjoying plane snacks. Thankfully I arrived home earlier than scheduled, and I got to spend some time with Aaron before getting back to reality. :)

Teaching update: I went back to teaching yesterday for the first time in 2.5 weeks, which is weird. God is so good, and so faithful. During the time I rested my voice, a microphone was ordered, and by the time I started teaching on Monday, it was all set up and ready to go. And it works SO WELL! Now I can use my normal talking voice and still be heard by everyone in class. And there will be NO MORE talking over students. I've learned my lesson. I do speech therapy exercises every day, drink chamomile tea and lots of H2O, don't sing, don't whisper or clear my throat (which are both really bad for your vocal chords), and am learning the art of rest. :)

So....24 days until Christmas, which means 25 days until Aaron gets to meet my family!! Who's excited??

I "subscribe" to this blog, meaning, whenever I log onto my computer it says, Allison has a new post. If you were to stop writing, my life would fall apart. Please keep me together in one piece and continue to write. Thank you.
