Hey blog readers! It has been the most fabulous weekend ever...just wanted to document some of it here, since it's my blog, and I get to say what I want. :)
The entire weekend was unseasonably warm, even for southern Cali. Think 70's people. Today, no joke, I wore a summery skirt and a t-shirt. Yep. Nice. Saturday Aaron and I had bfast at Denny's...we love that place. Can't go wrong with their $4 menu! Then we hit up the farmer's market which I absolutely LOVE. My favorite purchase is the chocolate covered espresso beans. It's like a personal wake-up call in your mouth. Perfect for an overcommitted teacher.
Saturday night was a girls night at my friend Jessica's house. She is an amazing hostess...we had fondue! It was a super fun time. There was an out of town guest present, who, after watching we girls interact for a few minutes looked at me and said something like, "You're the entertainer of the group?" Ha! We laughed a whole lot that night.
Sunday was a great day too - my first Valentine's day with Aaron...which was super fun. (please hold your laughter till the end if you think this gift is lame) I gave him a small notebook filled with letters from me - I started it about a week ago, and just wrote to him whenever I thought of him...plus a longer letter each night. Then I printed some Christmas pics, and included some quotes from my favorite books as of late (Searching for God Knows What, This Beautiful Mess, Follow Me to Freedom), and of course some quotes from our favorite Office characters. :) I also made him an ice cream cake and gave him some candy. He gave me earrings - which are beautiful. I'll take a pic of me wearing them and post it next time. Our church had a Valentine's dinner/dessert/movie night as a youth group fundraiser, so Aaron and I got to have dinner/dessert/watch a movie with his parents, sister, and brother in law. Good times.
Presidents Day is today...and thankfullly my school honors that...so I got to sleep for a long time last night...and do whatever I wanted today! :) Aaron and I met for coffee, then did a bit of shopping (4 pairs of shoes/sandals for $40 and 2 shirts for $21...not bad! And in case you think I am shoe-crazy...my other shoes had a)been worn since college b)holes in them)
Tonight our house hosted the members of the Jackson team for this spring break. I am not actually going on the trip this year, but am serving as a mentor to two student leaders (we're reading Follow Me to Freedom by John Perkins and Shane Claiborne...so good!) so I was the leader of games at our gathering tonight. Who doesn't love a good round of whack 'em? If you don't know this game, leave a comment and I'll explain it in my next post along with the pic of me in my new earrings. :)
This weekend I ate so much good food, had such good conversations, slept so well, enjoyed the beautiful sunshine, and laughed SO MUCH. Can it be Valentine's/Presidents Day weekend all the time? :)
