I'm wearing blue today (a post for Mom and Dusty)
Oh boy. I have been semi-anxious for awhile now...wondering and wondering what the outcome will be of these Presidential elections. Well, all I can do now is go vote, right? No facebook post, verbal plea with undecided friends, or email forwards will make any difference at this point. I wish I could remember the exact words that my pastor spoke on Sunday about these elections: something like, "Our hope is not in a political party...but rather in Christ." That's what I have seen all over Facebook lately too - at least from a few Christians I know who are not afraid to post about it. I posted a little something last week that I read in my inbox - I get emails from the social justice organization/publication called Sojourners. The article I posted on FB was an interview between Shane Claiborne (love!) and Tony Campolo (also love!)
Not only do I have some anxiety about the outcomes of today...but also because this past Sunday was my last official Sunday at my church. Like a baby, I cried throughout the service, and then cried some more when I talked with my pastors about it being my last Sunday.
Now it is Tuesday - and tonight will be my last night helping at youth group. You can understand this crazy mix of emotions today, yeah? Whew.
OK, well, believe it or not, I have not actually voted yet today (!), but plan to jet out of my classroom at 2:45pm SHARP and head to my polling place to give it one last ounce of effort for the Dems. You will not believe this either...but my first period kiddos are all sitting in their desks in front of me waiting for the 1st period bell to ring (in about 10 seconds). HA! Gotta run....er....teach....but I'll post again later today...for you, Mom, and you, Dusty!
