the night before Christmas?

On Tuesday, I was offered a teaching position at this high school. That night as I lie in my bed trying to sleep, the excitement was almost too much to handle. I literally felt like it was the night before Christmas. No joke. I laid there with my eyes wide open, smiling, and imagining all the good things that were to come my way in the days that would follow. Folks, I am overjoyed and incredibly thankful to have been offered a teaching job!!

I went to said school on Wednesday, and when I went into the office of the gentleman who hired me, he said, "Well, we did some switching around and it looks like we can offer you a full time contract." WHAT?! Originally it was only going to be an 80% teaching position. This is amazing news!

Wednesday and Thursday I wandered around school, meeting tons of really great educators, and observing the classes I will be teaching starting next Tuesday. Oh man, am I excited to be teaching Spanish 1 to these kiddos!

Now it's Friday, and since it is Veteran's Day weekend, my new place of employment has this day off from school. So this weekend I now get to put together an introduction presentation of myself :) and plan out some fun intro activities with my new students. For the first time since my very first year of teaching, I do not know a SINGLE student or other faculty member. Everyone is brand new to me, and I to them. I think this is a very good thing. A fresh start. A new chapter. The beginning of something fabulous.

Now to tackle some intro activities...thanks for all your support along the way, folks. You are the best. :)
