My sister Heidi is funny. I love her a lot. She encouraged me to post more often on my blog, with shorter posts, so it is easier for her to comment. So that's what I am trying to do. She also made me google this information...fun adoption/Modern Family connection!
Today is April 2, which means, (drum roll please...) I am officially on Spring Break! Woo hoo! So far on my vacation I have: eaten lunch at home, which is a luxury and much needed change from the teacher's lounge, watched a bit of Glee, fell asleep on the couch for 2 hours, went for a walk, attended a Good Friday service at church, got 5 dollar pizza, watched MF with Aaron, and am now blogging! Fun times, right? More fun times are sure to come...sleeping in, breakfast with Aaron, and a million other vacation-y possibilities. Last year on Spring Break I went to Jackson, Mississippi with a team from school. It was an incredible experience, and I hope to go there again some day...but this year I decided to chill at home and live it up in Cali.
One last thing about our Good Friday service at church tonight. We had a Messianic Jewish teacher lead us through a Sader (is that how you spell it?) When I walked in the sanctuary, there was a long table up front, a round table in the middle, and chairs on 3 sides. My pastor asked if I wouldn't mind sitting at the table with about 6 others, so I did. Which meant: I was part of a Sader meal! The speaer talked us through the whole thing, and the 7 or so of us demonstrated it all! (note: horseraddish is disgusting...but the significance of tasting it at the Sader is fascinating!)It was super cool. I learned a lot, and I think this might just be my best Good Friday ever. After all, as a collegue of mine said today, "We can't celebrate Easter without the events of Good Friday." So true. Let's be excited about Sunday...but not forget the truth of Good Friday.
And that's all from your friendly teacher/mentor/pastor in training/sister/daughter/friend, Allison. :)
