People - it's time that you go spend some time in the theatre and see this movie. The Help is a great read - and you should read it of course before you see the movie - but then after you read it - get to the theatre!
I saw this movie tonight with some super awesome girls, and although we did not talk much about it afterward, one comment was, "It's hard to believe this stuff didn't happen all that long ago." By "this" we meant the incredibly injust treatment of black people during the 1950's and 60's. Yeesh. It is embarrassing, sad, horrific, and unbelievable, really. How is it that people are treated with disrespect, violence, rudeness, etc??? All this based on skin color...gender...nationality...career...family background...education...wowza. Weren't all people created in God's image - ALL people? How is it okay for someone to think they are so much better than someone else that they can treat them as lower...? Not that I am the perfect example by any means..but this book/movie just really makes you think (or SHOULD make you think) about these issues - not just "way back then," but where do we see people being treated injustly today? Loaded question, I know...and I don't expect an answer or anything...but I am glad that I saw a movie that made me think. (Also, Emma Stone is gorgeous and awesome)
In other news...I am still waiting to get a job. In the meantime, I have made it to the gym two times this week already, I got to attend my church on Sunday (love it!), I have been reading lots of girly novels, and hanging out with super fun friends who treat me to ice cream, movies, happy hour treats, and so much more. THANK YOU!!
Well - off to read and get some sleep. Adios, amigos. :)
