Summer...how I love thee.

Do you know what I'd be okay with? I'd be okay if it were summer break all. the. time. With Dave Barnes playing on Pandora, and a cup of coffee next to me....ah...summer. Easy for me to say, right? Ha! For real, though. I do not know how it is possible that I find so many things to keep me busy in the summer time - but all of a sudden it is time for lunch, and then I decide I should maybe workout, and take a shower, then not put on any make-up, and go hang out with friends to watch the finale of The Bachelorette. (PS: I called it. I knew Jef (with one "f") was going to win!) One of my goals for this summer was to have my super awesome pal Brittany Lane over for dinner. We said we'd make it happen in June, and then we said we'd make it happen in July...and it is finally happening - tonight! You know how when you have company coming over it really motivates you to clean? Yeah...it was about time I take a broom and a mop to that bedroom floor of mine. :) I was just saying to my friends last night that it seems like I would be more motivated to cook yummy meals in the summer time, but that has NOT been the case. Ha. I am NOT a cook - or a baker - at all. That is why having friends come over for dinner is a good thing....it forces me to pull out the frozen chicken and those yummy marinades I bought at Fresh and Easy months ago because I "was going to cook" with them. For tonight, I have to be careful in my cooking, because BLane is lactose intolerant. No brownies and ice cream for dessert. Uh oh! That's my go-to dessert! Ha! I have "Allrecipes.com" pulled up right now, so I'll search around a bit. My pal Brittany loves watermelon - and there are SO many fun desserts/drinks on Pintrest featuring it....so we'll see what I can come up with. Whatever it is, maybe I'll take some pictures for the blog. I've been thinking lately.....being 28 means a couple of things: I am a few years into my career that I hopefully love (I do!), I am out of college, but realizing that I should get my Masters (I am!), I am either growing steadily in my faith or falling away from it (I'm growing...just listened to Jeff Manion this morning!) and practically everyone I know is getting married or having a baby. I have looked on more registries these past 2-4 months than ever before in my life...and purchased more gift bags and matching tissue paper, too. :) Good thing one of my love languages is giving gifts, right? That makes this season of my life FUN. Let's see....Noelle's wedding in June, then Jessica's wedding a few weeks ago, a bridal shower for Krista last weekend, a bridal shower for my cousin Lindsey yesterday...and in a few short weeks my parents will be in Cali so we can go to Lindsey and Aaron's wedding together! :) Well...time to read the last chapter for one of my grad classes. Cup of coffee next to me...house is clean...chicken is marinating (for some yummy recipe I will certainly make), and BLane is coming over in a few hours! I guess that means I should probably think about showering at some point......oh, summer, how I love thee.
